Press & Public Affairs Department

The Press and Public Affairs Department (PAPAD) is responsible for presenting and promoting Britain and British Government policy, in short the British Government's Public Diplomacy in India. PAPAD oversees the work of the various organs of the British Public Diplomacy throughout India and liases with other entities such as the British Council, Visit Britain and the Department for International Development India to ensure a co-ordinated effort across the country. The Head of PAPAD is the official Spokesman for the High Commission.

PAPAD provides a wide range of information services, including reference information on all aspects of Britain, and publications covering British Government policy as well as television and video services. It is also the base for the ukinindia.com website.

PAPAD co-ordinates all media operations for the UK Government including press conferences and interviews by visiting Government Ministers. It is also responsible for public diplomacy events; and the High Commission's Sponsored Visits Programme, which facilitates visits to the UK by Indian opinion formers and policy makers.

The E-media unit offers extensive sources of information on Britain. Publications, on-line facilities and a vast network of web sites are available. The E-media unit also is responsible for the day to day management of website. Any matters regarding these pages, including requests for links, should be sent to the Webmaster by e-mail. The Enquiry Service can provide you with a "one-stop-shop" for all your questions about Britain.

The Trade and Investment Publicity Section is responsible for looking after the press and promotional work for Trade UK and Invest UK.

The Television Section offers a wide range of broadcast - quality TV programmes about Britain. Filming, research and other technical facilities for Indian film and TV producers and crews working in Britain can be arranged.
