The British High Commissioner Mr Michael Arthur CMG is the representative in India of Her Majesty the Queen. He is responsible to the British Government for all aspects of the relationship between our two countries.

  • The Political Department is responsible for political relations between the UK and Indian Governments.
  • The Economic and Commercial Department is an arm of Trade Partners UK and Invest UK, which form part of British Trade International, the UK Government's trade and investment promotion vehicle. It is also responsible for trade policy and economic relations.
  • Visa Department is responsible for providing Visa and entry clearance services for those wanting to travel to the UK.
  • Consular Department provides consular assistance and protection for British citizens. It also issues passports.
  • The Defence Department is responsible for all aspects of the defence relationship between UK and India.
  • Management Department is responsible for all personnel and financial resources and provides support to all front line departments
  • The Press & Public Affairs (PPA) Department is responsible for presenting and promoting the UK and British Government policy in India.
  • The British Council Division is responsible for activities in education, English language, governance, science and the arts.
  • The Department for International Development is responsible for implementing the UK's development assistance programme. Its priority is to work with the Government of India towards the elimination of poverty in India.
